I need the number of clients which are successfully backed up between a period of time say 18:00 hrs. to 18:00 hrs.

Currently i am using the following script
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------
grep Policy: /tmp/bp_reports|uniq |grep -v "Storage Lifecycle Policy:"|grep -v
Test|grep -v CATALOG_BACKUP|grep -v Backupsetup |uniq|wc -l
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------

but this gives me the result POLICY wise. Even if i have multiple clients under 1 policy it gives me result as 1 but i need a script which will give me the report client wise.

What about using bperror, e.g.

Sudo bperror -U -backstat -d 5/21/2009 18:00:00 -e 5/22/2009 18:00:00

I then use sort and egrep to list in alphabetical order and to remove the information not wanted.

Here is my daily backup summary report script

I test for date, because on Monday morning I want to go back to 5 pm
last Friday and see the backups for all weekend.
The rest of the week I just go from 5 pm the night before.
This is run at 9 am each morning via cron.
Adjust your time to include the hours you want reported.

This breaks them down according to Status Code.
So all that finished ok are in the Zero section, each client name only
showing once even if they have multi jobs.

I always do a scroll to the bottom to see the ones with errors.

rptdate=`cat /opt/openv/scripts/temp/date4dlyrpt`
mydate=`date +%w`
if [ $mydate == 1 ]
then
h=64
else
h=16
fi
/usr/openv/netbackup/bin/admincmd/bperror -U -backstat -hoursago $h
-by_statcode> /opt/openv/scripts/temp/bksum.txt
mail -s "YourLocation Daily Backup Summary for $rptdate"
***@yourcompany.com < /opt/openv/scripts/temp/bksum.txt
date '+%a %b %d %Y' > /opt/openv/scripts/temp/date4dlyrpt

Here's what I use. I gives output that looks like below, totals by
client, then broken down by policy.

Run it without options for a 24-hour report or specify a number of hours
on the command line to see greater depth. Change the
"***@YOURDOMAIN.COM" at the top of the script for your mail address. I
run it daily via cron.

MDONALDSON : you have not given the script

JUDY : Would like to ask how do you take care of BCV Based backups in this report format.

Suppose if i have 1 media server on which BCV of 10 different servers are mounted and then backup is taken. How do you report that.

WRT BC Tape backup, In your report the media server comes only once as a client so how will you get the rest 9 server report.

Apologies for the slow response - I was on vacation.

My earlier message to this board has the script as an attachment
"rpt_client_totals".

It's a shell script, I don't use "extensions" as a rule on scripts.

The report I use - shows for each Error return code which servers had
it.
So if a server has 6 jobs and they all died with a 1 the server name
would show up once under code 1.

If 5 of the jobs were 0 and 1 job was 1 then the server name would show
up under both 0 and 1.

The point of my report was to see the 'odd' return codes like 71, 150,
49

Those I need to look and find out what went wrong. I just care to see
what servers are having issues - it does not matter to me how many of
the jobs failed but that they did fail.

If you want more detail then play with the command.

At one point I had it reporting EVERY job, and details about all that
failed.

Like this:
01/02/2009 18:15:21 <mediaserver> <clientname> from client
<clientname>: WRN - can't
open file: C:\Program
Files\TelStrat\CallParrot\CallParrotConfig_Data.mdf
(WIN32
32: The process cannot access the file because it is
being
used by another process. )

But this was more then I needed as I always go to the console to look
into the errors anyway.
I tested out 7 or 8 different ways with the command before I got the
format I liked. You can just test yourself until you get what you like.
